Why was Anubis so Important to the Egyptians?
Egypt's Worship process of Anubis
When the number of steps to mummification were going on the embalmer would dress up as Anubis (MASCOT). Egyptians would also write/draw hieroglyfics on walls and monuments to worship Anubis through tales and many other ways. Anubis was also worshiped through the weighing of the heart ceremoney which he was the main god of.
Anubis's Family Tree with Loads of Fathers
Anubis had many gods and goddesses in his family to start off his dad was Ra he was the fourth son of Ra. However it is also told other ways as Osiris being he dad and also Set as being his father but its not very clear, the only clear known fact about this was Anubis's mom was Nepthys. (So that's Anubis's half unknown family tree).

Collector of the souls?
Why you ask yourself, why was Anubis the god of the dead and the collector of the souls. Well i'll tell you one reason was because his name stood for mummification. Another one of the reasons he was god of the dead was because he had the head of a Jakal, and Jakals hunt for the dead on the edges of the desert. The last reason that i can tell you about why his nickname was collector of the souls was because Anubis watched over the mummification process. (Do you think he had popcorn to do that?)
